WAi2Go converts plain CAD plans and geographical data into stylish maps that complement organisational identity and offer advanced wayfinding across multidimensional sites.

Our maps enable dynamic, location-specific data to be embedded and presented as interactive layers, ensuring immediate, current information at user fingertips (e.g. advising of hot desk and printer availability in office scenarios, or the colour-coding of room occupancy to denote free study areas for students).

Data derived from Open Street Map (OSM) is styled using a map styling editor to offer completely bespoke National maps, including options to change the level of detail that is shown for various zoom levels.

For campus-based institutions, the campus map is geo-referenced to overlay on the National map. We can work with existing campus maps to maintain the same look and feel or create new ones.

Our floor plan importing algorithms import and recognise CAD plans and allow styling of door symbols, corridor and room colours. 

Floor plan layouts can also be added for individual rooms.

Visualise tagged assets as moving icons on the map. Click on the icon to show additional information about the asset. Link with various asset tracking systems using different technologies, from different vendors, to give an integrated view of tracked assets.

Create scheduled icons for advertising or notification purposes to draw attention to areas within the map (e.g. University Open Day reception points, closed paths or areas of construction)

Adverts & Notifications

Our maps can be easily configured to expose different levels of location and map information, based on the role of the users or the nature of the application, for example:

  • Provide less site information for visitors compared with administrative user applications

  • Emphasise locations of significance for particular users (e.g. reception points for visitors, or areas of historical significance for interactive tours)

  • Utilise options to view original CAD plans, rather than simplified or stylised floor plans, for site survey applications

  • Use layered maps based on historical periods to show how sites and campuses have developed over years.
     

Create different routing options for different users:

  • Use the most scenic route for your visitors, for example on open days
    (not necessarily the shortest)

  • Use the administrative app to allow routing through doors that require pass codes or that are staff-only.

  • Add notifications about, or redirect routes to navigate around - obstacles to access for users with impaired mobility, such as uneven surfaces or high curbs.

Case Study: European Research Station (ESTEC)

The images below illustrate how the European Space Research Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Holland use the WAi2Go for their ESTEC Navigator. The staff-only app (left) is for sole use by the 2,500 employees when they are connected to the site WiFi or via the ESTEC VPN. The ESTEC Navigator gives room-to-room navigation and interfaces with the staff directory, the meeting booking system, and daily menus for the restaurants.

Using the same platform, an annual Open Day app (right) has a different outdoor map showing temporary marquises, portable toilets and food stands etc, whilst avoiding any indoor mapping for security reasons.

 

A separate Open Day team manage the events and location information shown within the app using the WAi2Go administration tools.

Flexible kiosk/totem interfaces enable users to change map starting point and orientation

  • ​For interactive kiosk/totem applications, the 'You are Here' point is easily configured from the administrative interface and the map can be rotated to give a 'heads-up' display rather than north-aligned.
     

  • All of our kiosk application are designed to provide easy accessibility for wheelchair users.

No network, no problem! 
 

There are many occasions when a user does not have a network.
Our solutions support offline operation for searching, mapping and navigation and selected other sources of information. Real-time interactive layers are the only services that are affected.
